Thank you for the privilege of having your son or daughter involved with the Northwest Navigators! We are glad you’re taking the time to learn about us. As you look around this special parents section, as well as the rest of our site we hope you will get an overview of what we do and what we believe. Be sure to read what some prominent leaders in today’s society have to say about the Navigators.
When your child first mentioned to you that they were involved in the Navigators organization on campus, you probably had a lot of questions. You may have wondered, who are the Navigators? What do they believe? The Northwest Navigators love students and value the opportunity to invest in your child’s life while they are in college. These years are formative, as students wrestle with what they believe and how to live. We believe the Bible has answers that will help them become responsible leaders. With a vision for the world and a heart for the individual, we are seeking to help raise up disciples of Jesus Christ and train them to “pass on their lives” to others. Our goal is to see students move toward maturity in Christ (Colossians 1:28) and become laborers for the Kingdom of God (Matthew 9:37).
If you have any questions or if we can serve you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us at john@northwestnavs.org or (660) 562-2121. Again, Thanks for trusting us to invest in your son or daughter during this critical chapter in their lives.
Sincerely,
John & Jessica Payton, Campus Directors of the Northwest Navigators
"As a father of three sons, I know how much parents love and care about their children. After over 25 years of ministering to high school and college students—and now serving as the U.S. Navigators Collegiate Director—I also know the value of surrounding college students with positive Christian peers and adults. In The Navigators, we are committed to your child's success in life and to helping them mature in their relationship with God. We are honored to have your son or daughter involved with us. If we can serve you or if you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact my office or the Navigator Staff at Northwest."
- Jim Luebe, U.S. Collegiate Director
"On a scale of one to ten, I place The Navigators as a 'ten' among para-church ministries today. In my college days, The Navigators taught me the value of a disciplined life. In our Crusades, they developed the unsurpassed follow-up methods we use today. Thank God for The Navigators."
- Billy Graham
"Navigators have had a huge impact in my life; I gave my life to Christ in college and the witness of The Navigators and their dynamic materials have provided a great foundation for my Christian life. As the founder of FOCUS, The Navigator staff has been a great resource to me and to my staff as we too seek to reach a generation of young leaders with the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
- Curtis Martin, Founder & President of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students)
"My husband and I have been so pleased by our daughter's experience in Navigators at an Ivy League College. The weekly Navigator worship services, as well as the Christian friends she has met through these gatherings, have kept her Christian walk strong. We would recommend Navigators to any parent."
- Diane S. Passno, Executive Vice President of Focus on the Family
"Our son, Tim, became involved his freshman year with an organization called 'Navigators.' Who were the 'Navigators'? An obvious concern was 'cults.' Was this one? In due time, all of our concerns were alleviated. We have spent time with many of Tim's Navigator friends, and we have yet to find one we didn't like and/or admire."
- Bob and Susie Bastian, Member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives
"Without exception, I have found the individuals involved with the Navigators to be of outstanding character and to have a caring quality not found everywhere in the world today. I have found the Navigators to consistently and faithfully instill Biblical values and Christian morals in a very effective way. As a parent, I would be very proud to have my child involved with this fine ministry."
- Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Senior Senator - United States Senate
We are very thankful that our daughter is involved with the Navs. It is an answer to prayer. We wanted her to find Christian friends and she has. The Navs changed our lives 30 years ago and now they are changing our daughter's life now. She has met some great Christian leaders who have had a positive influence on her. They teach the truth of the Bible and they have fun together doing planned activities every week. The Navigator leaders on campus are very caring Christians and have a heart for God.
-Danny Jensen, parent of a student involved with the Northwest Navigators
The program strives to enable young people to draw closer to God and to each other. They learn to serve their student body and the community around them. I have been very impressed with the staff and members of the Navigators program that I have met. The programwill make a positive difference in your child.
